First summer in ten years or so with no mountains whatsoever. Despite that, it’s been a really good one. I don’t know if I’ve ever felt so content. Just feeling comfortable in my own body, for starters. Turns out that’s a good prerequisite for enjoying the heat. Yes, even the sweltering days. I, who used to stay inside plastered to the relative coolness of the floor, cursing the confinement of my physical form, praying for the coming of autumn. Who knew that I had it in me to love the sun? I’ve even taken to wearing dresses, with gusto! At long last, femininity is allowed to shine through without pain and shame getting in the way. But what if you change your mind? Yeah, what if. Imagine if I randomly woke up and decided that this feeling of freedom, contentment and being at home in my own body after all is less worthwhile than wanting to crawl out of my own skin on a daily basis? (yeah, that was sarcasm)
Anyway! Despite the lack of mountains and festivals, this summer has hardly been devoid of adventures. I have, among other things, walked and berry-hunted in the woods, kayaked in lakes, experienced a weird and wondrous interactive performance, renovated my bedroom (it’s all 70’s yellow and brown now!), gone swimming every chance I could get, visited a friend in the Netherlands, gotten fully vaccinated, gone to actual concerts and theatre plays, chilled out in a cabin by the sea, watched things grow in the garden, caught up with long-time-no-see friends, attended an amazing wedding and played music together with actual people in real life! And not least, taken my Tiger on my very first long-distance motorcycle trip. What a way to travel!
As per usual, I rarely bother documenting stuff visually, but here you go: random summer pictures!
