The Oldest Living Things in the World

Life is hard, again. A sure sign of that is how much I read, since the number of books read seems to correlate directly with the levels of stress I experience. As far as coping strategies go, I can think of worse ones. I might be constantly tired from not be able to sleep properly because of anxiety, but at least I’ll never become bored. So instead of boring you with details about my state of health, I’ll recommend you a book which instantly took its place among my favourites.

The Oldest Living Things in the World by Rachel Sussman

I bought this monument of a book as a gift to myself for my thirtieth birthday. Thank you, past me! It is beyond a doubt the most beautiful and interesting book I have had the pleasure of reading. It touched me deeply, too. I cried, laughed, and not least marvelled at the gorgeous photos, mind-blowing facts, unlikely anecdotes and… well, life itself, in all its ancient glory.
